Meet the Team…
Noël Adams, New Product Development and Product Management
Clearworks President, Noël Adams, has extensive experience in new product development, product management and product marketing for high technology companies. Noel's unique approach focuses on using the voice of the customer to build products that meet the needs of a changing marketplace. Her forte is managing the new product process throughout its lifecycle, which often includes ideation, concept development, rapid prototype development and market launch. Noël founded Clearworks in October 2002 to leverage her passion for customer focused new products and help companies with challenges ranging from new product concept testing to outbound product marketing launches.
Previously Noël managed cross functional product and service launches for companies such as BellSouth, Nextel, Cingular, T-mobile, Aether Systems and Typesoft. Often called on for strategic new projects, her broad background includes projects in channel management, inside sales and customer care, IT and business systems, process reengineering and relationship marketing.
Noël holds a BS in Business from the University of Maryland, College Park and earned her MBA at Emory University in Atlanta. Noël is Past President of the Board of the Northern California Chapter of the PDMA (Product Development and Management Association) and Member of the HandsOn Bay Area Board. After hours, you may see Noël running in the Presidio with her faithful companion, Sam.
Anne Bakstad, Product Launch and Operations
Anne Bakstad is a product launch expert with almost two decades of experience leading Operations, Marketing, and IT organizations at technology and telecom companies. Using process reengineering to launch new products, companies and business initiatives, Anne's approach allows companies to improve customer experience and satisfaction and reduce costs.
In her positions at Cable & Wireless, Digital Island, Metricom, and Pacific Bell, Anne had a track record of building cross-functional teams, as well as external relationships, to achieve business goals. At Metricom, Anne developed and launched a company-wide Voice of the Customer program. At Digital Island, she streamlined the customer implementation process for Internet hosting customers, significantly increasing customer satisfaction ratings as well as revenue.
Anne earned her B.A. in Communications at the University of California, Davis and her M.A. in Organizational Development at the University of San Francisco. On the weekends, Anne enjoys camping and hiking with her family and friends.
Jennifer Clauson, Consumer Marketing and Market Research
Jennifer Clauson has over a decade experience in strategic and retail channel marketing with strengths in marketing planning and implementation, new product launches, merchandising, retail promotional planning and consumer research. She has successfully executed large multi-million dollar retail marketing and merchandising programs on time and under budget, managing large cross functional teams.
Jennifer was co-founder and president of Channel Watch, a retail research audit firm that helps firms assess their field merchandising campaigns and retail performance. Jennifer has also worked with top software brands in the consumer software industry, marketing products for Broderbund Software, Mattel Interactive and Riverdeep - The Learning Company. Adding retail expertise to the team, Jennifer has worked with mass merchants, warehouse clubs, superstores, office stores and toy store channels including Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Staples.
Jennifer holds a BA in Economics from Tufts University in Medford, MA and earned her MBA at Emory University in Atlanta. When time permits, you can find Jennifer in Europe watching World Cup Soccer.
Jennifer Cuthill, Product Management and Strategic Marketing
Jennifer Cuthill is a marketing, business strategy and product development veteran. Jennifer specializes in using solid market analysis to drive strategic planning and implementation. During her career, Jennifer has worked with major retailers and manufacturers to analyze markets, identify new business opportunities, and execute new product and marketing plans to increase revenues and cut costs. Her deep financial services and payments experience includes product development and partnership marketing for startups and major financial services firms. Jennifer has managed cross-functional teams to develop kiosk-based financial products, including product specifications, software development and testing, user interface, back office operations and product marketing.
Jennifer holds a BS in Economics and Communications from the University of Delaware, and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. A busy mom, Jennifer likes to indulge in an occasional spa day with friends.
Sara Dougherty, Administrative and Programs
Clearworks Administrative Assistant, Sara Dougherty, has experience working with customers in a variety of different fields from all over the world. Strong organizational skills and a passion for learning about new programs and ideas help her manage the variety of administrative tasks she handles at Clearworks.
Previously Sara served in the Peace Corps, living in a remote village in Eastern Kenya. While living in Kenya Sara helped promote sustainable community development by designing and implementing public health programs that addressed the community's most pressing needs.
Sara holds a BA in English and Psychology from the University of North Florida and is a member of Jacksonville Community Council Inc. Sara is also a part of the Development Team for the Sulzbacher Center, a large homeless shelter in her home town of Jacksonville, Florida. On the weekends Sara can be found fixing up her house in Jacksonville's Murray Hill area.
Chuck Mallory, Product Management and User Experience
Chuck Mallory has extensive experience in product management, product marketing, new product development and user experience for technology companies of all sizes and stages of development - from entrepreneurial start-up environments to process-driven Fortune 500 companies including General Electric, BellSouth (AT&T) and Microsoft. Whether it's ideating features for a groundbreaking consumer product, defining requirements for the next release of an existing application, or executing an interface refresh of a legacy enterprise module, Chuck leverages his breadth of knowledge to improve communication across functional groups and drive results.
Prior to joining Clearworks, Chuck spent years managing the design, development and deployment of products in entirely new categories including self-ordering kiosks, mobile ordering devices and digital signage. He brings a passion to the process of creating user experiences that reflect the needs of real customers while skillfully balancing the natural tensions between cost, quality and time-to-market that impact any product development effort.
Chuck holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri and earned his MBA at Emory University in Atlanta. Chuck loves discovering new music and frequently turns the volume to eleven.
Karie Starrett, Product Management and Services
Karie Starrett has nearly fifteen years of experience in market research, business intelligence, marketing, product management, and professional and customer services for fast-paced, high tech companies such as Avaya, Microsoft, T-Mobile, and Ameritech (AT&T). Karie excels in developing and launching businesses from the ground up to help companies accelerate their time to market with winning strategies, successful launches, and products and services that address customer needs.
Before joining Clearworks, Karie was responsible for defining and launching a start-up services business that entailed the development of strategy, marketing, engineering, process design, operations, delivery and management. Leveraging this experience, Karie works to ensure that services are developed using process-oriented methodologies, systems, and tools to deliver repeatable business models with a consistent user experience -- the ultimate goal being high service margins and customer satisfaction. She also played key roles in strategic and new business planning identifying market growth opportunities to drive market differentiation and top-line revenue growth.
Karie holds a BS in Political Science and French and a MS in Economics from Eastern Illinois University. In her spare time, Karie is a wine-lover and soccer mom extraordinaire.
